Given two points in the plane, the slope can be solved using the formula below:

The value of "rise" is positive if the line is going up. It's negative if it goes down.

The value of "run" is positive if the line goes to the right. It's negative if it goes to the left.

For example:

Between two points (0, 2) and (-3, 0), rise = -2 and run = -3. Therefore, its slope is -2/-3 or 2/3.

Another way of finding the slope given two points is this:
