The angle made by the vector in the counterclockwise direction from the y-axis, θ=-60.0°

The negative sign indicates that the angle is in the counterclockwise direction. The angles made in the clockwise direction is represented with the positive sign.

The y-component of the given vector is calculated as,


A_y=A\cos \theta

On substituting the known values,


\begin{gathered} A_y=27.6*\cos (-60.0) \\ =13.8\text{ m} \end{gathered}

Thus the y-component of the given vector is 13.8 m
