y = -5x-9 (Line 1)

Given that the lines 1 and 2 are parallel the slope of the line 2 is equal to m=-5

Using the linear equation y=mx +b , the slope m=-5 and the point (4,-2) we have:

-2 = (-5)(4) + b (Replacing the values)

-2 = -20 + b (Multiplying)

18 = b (Adding 20 to both sides of the equation)

The answer is :

y= -5x + 18
