From the problem, we have :


x^2<16

Note that if the inequality symbol is <, the solution is is the form :


awhere b is greater than a.<p></p><p>Solve for x :</p>[tex]\begin{gathered} x^2<16 \\ \sqrt[]{x^2}<\sqrt[]{16} \\ x<\pm4 \end{gathered}

So we have two values of x, -4 and 4. Using the format above, 4 is greater than -4.

The solution will be :

[tex]-4Note also that if the inequality symbol is < or >, the endpoints are open circles.
