What is the area of a circle with a diameter of 36 millimeters? Use 3.14 for Pi

we know that

the area of circle is given by

A=\pi\cdot r^2

we have

pi=3.14

r=36/2=18 mm ------> the radius is half the diameter

substitute

\begin{gathered} A=3.14\cdot(18)^2 \\ A=1,017.36\text{ mm\textasciicircum{}2} \end{gathered}

the answer is

the area is 1,017.36 square millimeters
