$\begin{cases}-x+y=4 \\ x+3y=4\end{cases}\rightarrow4y=8\rightarrow y=2$

having that y=2 we get that

$\begin{gathered} -x+2=4 \\ -x=4-2=2 \\ x=-2 \end{gathered}$

therefore x=-2 and y=2
