The formula of the slope of a line passing through 2 points is

m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_(\square))

Where

\begin{gathered} P_1=(x_1,y_1) \\ P_2=(x_2,y_2) \end{gathered}

Since the given points are

\begin{gathered} P_1=(1,-4) \\ P_2=(-5,7) \end{gathered}

Then

\begin{gathered} x_1=1,y_1=-4 \\ x_2=-5,y_2=7 \end{gathered}

Substitute them in the formula of the slope above

\begin{gathered} m=(7-(-4))/(-5-1) \\ m=(7+4)/(-6) \\ m=(11)/(-6) \\ m=-(11)/(6) \end{gathered}

The slope of the line is -11/6
