Find the sum of a number that is 3.7 units to the left of 2.2.

In order to find this number you consider that certain units to the left means subtraction. Thus, you have:

2.2 - 3.7 = 1.5

Find the sum of a number that is 12 units to the left of -6. The same procedure as before:

-6 - 12 = -18

Hence, the searched numbers are 1.5 and -18
