The Danville Tigers are having team shirts made. One option is to pay Carrie's Tees $25 setup fee and then buy the shirts for $7 each. Another option is to go to City Printing, paying $27 for a setup fee and an additional $6 per shirt. The team parent in charge of the project notices that, with a certain number of shirts, the two options have the same cost. What is the cost? How many shirts is that?

Carries Tees payment

let

x = number of shirts

cost = 25 + 7x

City Printing Payment

x = number of shirt

cost = 27 + 6x

To find the number of shirt

25 + 7x = 27 + 6x

25 - 27 = 6x - 7x

-2 = -x

x = 2

Number of shirts = 2

cost will be

cost = 25 + 7(2) = 25 + 14 = $39
