The easiest way to solve this, is to dive the figure in two rectangular prism. One with dimensions 7in x 8in x 1in and another one with dimensions 10in x 9in x 1in

Then we calculate the volume of the two rectangular prisms by multiplying their dimensions:


V_1=7in\cdot8in\cdot1in=56in^3
V_2=10in\cdot9in\cdot1in=90in^3

Now we add the two volumes:


V_(total)=V_1+V_2=56in^3+90in^3=146in^3

Then the volume of the figure is 146 cubic inches.
