Write an equation of the line that passes through ( -5, 0) and is parallel to the line y=4.5x-1 An equation of the parallel line is

step 1

Find the slope of the given line

we have

y=4.5x-1

the slope is m=4.5

step 2

Remember that'I two lines are paralell, then their slopes are equal

so

the slope of the parallel line is

m=4.5x

step 3

find the equation of the parallel line in slope intercept form

y=mx+b

we have

m=4.5

point (-5,0)

substitute

0=4.5(-5)+b

solve for b

b=22.5

therefore

the equation of the line is

y=4.5x+22.5
