The amount of juice in a pitcher is 4 6/8 cups and 7/8 cup is taken out.

The amount of juice left in the pitcher is,

\begin{gathered} 4(6)/(8)-(7)/(8)=(4\cdot8+6)/(8)-(7)/(8) \\ =(38)/(8)-(7)/(8) \\ =(38-7)/(8) \\ =(31)/(8) \\ =3(7)/(8) \end{gathered}

There are 3 7/8 cups left in the pitcher.
