Given the equation :

$16-3x=2\cdot(1+2x)$

Solve for x as following :

$\begin{gathered} 16-3x=2\cdot1+2\cdot2x \\ 16-3x=2+4x \end{gathered}$

Combine the like terms :

$\begin{gathered} -3x-4x=2-16 \\ -7x=-14 \end{gathered}$

Divide both sides by -7

$\begin{gathered} (-7x)/(-7)=(-14)/(-7) \\ \\ x=2 \end{gathered}$
