a) To get the percentage of the students that are girls, we need to get the total number of girls based on the response.

There are 24 girls that prefer playing video games and 60 that prefer watching TV. Hence, we have a total of 84 girls.

There are 150 middle school students who participated in this survey. Hence, to solve for the percentage, we have

n=(84)/(150)*100\%=56\%

Therefore, 56% of the students are girls.

b) To get the percentage of the students that prefer watching TV, we sum the number of students that prefer watching TV. There are 60 girls and 24 boys that prefer watching TV, which results in a sum of 84 students.

Therefore, the percentage is

n=(84)/(150)*100\%=56\%

This means that 56% of the students prefer watching TV.
