The equation is:

11.9p + 23.1= 273

The problem will be then:

In a store, the cost of a single pant is $11.9. Josh, enters the store and chooses x-amount of pants with a blue shirt that costs $23.1, at the end, he paid a total amount of $273 dollars. How many pants did Josh buy?

P= number of pants (which is the variable)

Total paid= 273

Cost of shirt= $23.1

\begin{gathered} 11.9p\text{ + 23.1= 273} \\ 11.9p=\text{ 273 -23.1} \\ 11.9p=\text{ 249.9} \\ p=\text{ }(249.9)/(11.9) \\ p=\text{ 21. } \end{gathered}

Therefore, Josh bought 21 pants at the store.
