Given a triangle with base b and perpendicular height h, then

\text{ the area of the triangle = }(1)/(2)* bh

b = m, h = n,

\text{ the area of the triangle = }(1)/(2)mn

Given a rectangle with length l and width w, then

\text{ the area of the rectangle = }l* w

In this case,

l = n and w = m

Therefore,

\text{ the area of the rectangle = }mn

Therefore,

the area of the triangle TRI is half the area of the rectangle RECT
