Answer: -39.5

Explanation:

To make this easier, you want to convert the fraction to a decimal. 1/2 is a half so its 0.5. If you don't know what 1/5 to a decimal is then you make the denominator to 100. To do this you do 100/2 to calculate what to multiply 2 by which is 50. You then do 1x50 and 2x50. This will be 50/100. Divide 50 by 100 which is 0.5.

In this question the fraction is a negative so the decimal will be -0.5.

-0.5-40+1

-0.5-40=-40.5

-40.5+1=-39.5

-39.5 answer
