Given the following expression:

(x+4)(x+8)

we can apply the distributive property on the right factor to get the following:

(x+4)(x+8)=x\cdot(x+8)+4\cdot(x+8)

doing the same on each term, we get:

\cdot x(x+8)+4\cdot(x+8)=x^2+8x+4x+32

adding the similar terms, we get the following:

x^2+8x+4x+32=x^2+12x+32

thus, the expanded expression is x^2 + 12x + 32
