Given:

A local school installed a new flagpole that has two lights on both sides of the flagpole that are 40 feet from each other.

As shown in the figure the flagpole is in the middle between the lights

And the distance between the lights = 40

So, the distance (x) which represents the distance between the flagpole and the light = half of the distance between the lights

So,


x=(1)/(2)\cdot40=20

So, the answer will be the value of x = 20 feet
