You have the following expression:

4x = 2 - 4(2 - 3x)

step1:

4x = 2 - 8 + 12x Distributive property (the factor of the second term right side has been expanded)

step2:

4x = -6 + 12x Combine like terms (the operation 2 - 8 us equal to -6)

step3:

-8x = -6 Subtraction property of equality (you subtract 12x both sides)

step4:

x = 3/4 Division property of equality (you divide by -8 both sides and simpliy)
