Given that the class made 4 1/2 quartz of soup

\begin{gathered} \text{Soup made}\Rightarrow4(1)/(2)quartz \\ \Rightarrow(9)/(2)\text{quartz} \end{gathered}

They served 4/5 of the soup to friends, this implies

\begin{gathered} (4)/(5)of\text{ soup}\Rightarrow(4)/(5)of\text{ }(9)/(2)quartz \\ \Rightarrow(4)/(5)*(9)/(2)=(18)/(5)qaurtz \\ \text{The amount served is }(18)/(5)quartz \end{gathered}

Since each servings is 3/5 quartz, the number of servings will be

\begin{gathered} \text{ Number servings =}\frac{Total\text{ quartz served}}{each\text{ serving}}=((18)/(5))/((3)/(5)) \\ \Rightarrow(18)/(5)*(5)/(3)=6\text{ servings} \end{gathered}

The correct number of servings is 6, Hector did not divide the amount of soup served by the equivalent of each servings.

In other words,

He\text{ did not divide 3}(3)/(5)quartz\text{ by }(3)/(5)quartz
