To answer this question we have to use the following formula:


C1V1=C2V2

Where C1 is the initial concentration, V1 is the initial concentration, C2 is the final concentration and V2 is the volume concentration.

Solve the equation for V1 and replace for the given values of C1 (3.5M), C2 (0.75M) and V2 (800mL):


\begin{gathered} V1=(C2V2)/(C1) \\ V1=(0.75M\cdot800mL)/(3.5M) \\ V1=171.43mL \end{gathered}

The volume required is 171.43mL.
