Green Apples = 9

Red Apples = 8

Total Apples = 17 [8+9=17]

We want to find 2 ratios. Ratios are basically fractions.

(a)

We want ratio of GREEN APPLES to ALL APPLES.

We know there are 9 green and 17 all apples, so the ratio would be:

(9)/(17)

(b)

We want ratio of ALL APPLES to RED APPLES.

We know there are 17 apples in total and 8 red apples, so the ratio would be:

(17)/(8)
