You are starting your first job as a salesperson at a clothing store. You receive a base salary of $10.00 per hour with time-and-a half for hours in excess of 40 hours per week. If you are paid biweekly (every two weeks), what will one gross base paycheck be? Assume 40 hours a week, no overtime. a760 b840 c400 d800

\$800

1) Given that you are paid every two weeks, consider that the base salary is $10 per hour. And 1.5 times for hours in excess.

2) But notice that the pay will not include overtime.

3) Thus, we can write out the following:

\begin{gathered} 40\:hours\:*2=80\:hours \\ \\ 80\:*10=800 \end{gathered}

Note that this is the gross paycheck (no taxes).
