The radius of the circle is = 13

This is because, the line from the center of the circle bisects the chord AB, as shown below:

Now consider any of the two right triangles obtained, and apply the pythagorean theorem:

Applying the pythagorean theorem to obtain r:


\begin{gathered} r^2=5^2+12^2 \\ r^2=25^{}+144 \\ r^2\text{ = 169} \\ r\text{ =}\sqrt[]{169} \\ r\text{ = 13} \end{gathered}

Therefore, the radius of the circle is r = 13
