\begin{gathered} y=3x+13 \\ y=7x+17 \end{gathered}

we subtract the two equations to eliminate Y

\begin{gathered} y=3x+13 \\ y=7x+17 \\ ------------ \\ 0=-4x-4 \end{gathered}

and solve x

\begin{gathered} 0=-4x-4 \\ 4x=-4 \\ x=-(4)/(4) \\ \\ x=-1 \end{gathered}

the value of x is -1

now replace x=-1 on any equation to solve y

i will replace on firts equation

\begin{gathered} y=3(-1)+13 \\ y=-3+13 \\ y=10 \end{gathered}

the value of y is 10

the solution point is ( -1 , 10 )
