We have the system of equations:

\begin{gathered} 2x-y=-15, \\ -2x+5y=3. \end{gathered}

Adding the equations, we get:

\begin{gathered} (2x-y)+(-2x+5y)=-15+3, \\ 4y=-12. \end{gathered}

As we can see, by adding the equations, the variable x has been eliminated.

Answer

Variable x is ready to be eliminated by adding the equations.
