Given the linear equation;

ax-by=c

We are asked to express the equation in terms of y

To do this, we have to rearrange the equation in such a way that "y" becomes the subject of the formula.

\begin{gathered} ax-by=c\mleft\lbrace subtract\text{ ax from both s}ides\mright? \\ ax-ax-by=c-ax \\ -by=c-ax \\ \text{Divide both sides by -b} \\ (-by)/(-b)=(c-ax)/(-b) \\ \therefore y=(c-ax)/(-b) \end{gathered}

Therefore the answer is

ANSWER:

y=(c-ax)/(-b)
