SOLUTION

We want to solve the equation

|5t-1|=6

The absolute value of a number is equal to a positive or a negative value, so

\begin{gathered} |5t-1|=6\text{ becomes } \\ 5t-1=6,5t-1=-6 \\ 5t-1=6 \\ 5t=6+1 \\ 5t=7 \\ t=(7)/(5) \\ Or \\ 5t-1=-6 \\ 5t=-6+1 \\ 5t=-5 \\ t=-(5)/(5) \\ t=-1 \end{gathered}Hence t = -1 or t = 7/5

Graphing we have
