Graph y =- 1/2x -5 Would the coordinates to graph be:

(0, -5) and (-2, -4)?

Remember that

If an ordered pair lies to the given line, then the ordered pair must satisfy the linear equation

so

Verify

For (0,-5)

x=0, y=-5

substitute

y=-(1/2)(0)-5 -------> y=-5 is ok

that means -----> the ordered pair (0,-5) lie to the given line

For (-2,-4)

x=-2, y=-4

substitute

y=-(1/2)(-2)-5 ------> y=-4 is ok

the ordered pair (-2,-4) lie to the given line

Graph the line

using a graphing tool

Graph y = 1/2x -5 Would the coordinates to graph be:(0, -5) and (-2, -4)?-example-1
