Am 80 meter tower is supported by a guy wire attached to the top of the tower. If the wire forms an angle of elevation of 79 degrees, how long is the wire.?

Solution:

From the question, we gathered that;

Using sine trigonometry ratio;


\begin{gathered} \sin\theta=(opposite)/(hypotenuse) \\ \\ \theta=79^o,hypotenuse=x,opposite=80 \\ \end{gathered}

Thus;


\begin{gathered} \sin79^o=(80)/(x) \\ \\ x=(80)/(\sin79^o) \\ \\ x=81.5m \end{gathered}

ANSWER: The wire is 81.5 meters long.
