Surface Area of a Cylinder
Given a cylinder of radius r and height h, its surface area is calculated as follows (including the top and bottom areas):
![A=2\pi r^2+2\pi rh](https://img.qammunity.org/2023/formulas/mathematics/college/pyb6szj7s4apb279y66g8eoudtdx59zqeq.png)
The cylinder of the figure has a radius of r=10 m and a height of h=7 m. Substitute into the formula:
![\begin{gathered} A=2\pi10^2+2\pi(10)(7) \\ A=200\pi+140\pi=340\pi \end{gathered}](https://img.qammunity.org/2023/formulas/mathematics/college/8kjp2j9v5uchwuil7umz7q8gtvec0b46at.png)
Using the value of pi=3.14:
A = 340 * 3.14 = 1,067.6 square meters
The surface area is 1,067.6 square meters
