speed = 50 miles per hour

Distance = 1/6 of a mile

time = x

speed = distance / time:

time= Distance /speed

Replacing:

time= (1/6) / 50 = 1/300 hours

Since 1 hour = 3,600 seconds

1/300 x 3600 = 12 seconds
