Not equivalent equations

A) b = 3/2

B) b =6

1) Examining each equation we can solve for b to check whether they are or not equivalent:

4b +9 = 15 Subtract 9 from both sides

4b= 15-9

4b = 6 Divide both sides by 4

b= 6/4 Simplify it

b = 3/2

Equation B:

4b = 24 Divide both sides by 4

b =6

2) As equivalent equations have the same value for b. These are not equivalent equations since b= 3/2 for the first and 6 for the second.
