A fair die is rolled

We are to find the probability of getting at least a 1

That is

P(at least a 1) = P(1) + P(2) + P(3) + P(4) + P(5) + P(6)

The probability of getting any number from a fair die is 1/6

Therefore we have

\begin{gathered} P(at\text{ least 1)}=(1)/(6)+(1)/(6)+(1)/(6)+(1)/(6)+(1)/(6)+(1)/(6) \\ P(at\text{ least 1)}=(1+1+1+1+1+1)/(6) \\ P(at\text{ least 1)}=(6)/(6) \\ P(at\text{ least 1)}=1 \end{gathered}

Therefore, the probability of getting at least 1 is 1
