We have the next formula

v=(d)/(t)

v is the velocity, d is the distance and t is time

a) we have for the first case

v=60 mi/hr

t=5 hour

d=?

d=vt=60\cdot5=300\text{miles}

b) for the second case

v=60 mi/hr

t=5 min

First, we need to transform minutes into hours

\begin{gathered} 60\text{ min }\rightarrow1\text{ hour} \\ 5\text{ min }\rightarrow\text{ 0.083 hour} \end{gathered}

so the distance

d=0.083\cdot60=5\text{ miles}
