Answer:

a) Multiply the denominator by the first number

In the case of the example shown, that would be (3 * 1) = 3

b) Add the result to the numerator value

That would be (3 + 2 ) = 5

c) Place this over the denominator

That would be 5/3

a\text{ }(b)/(c)\text{ = }\frac{(a* c)\text{ + b}}{c}

Here, we want to learn how to convert mixed fraction to an improper fraction

An improper fraction is one in which the numerator is larger in value than the denominator

Before we proceed , we have to identify the fraction parts as follows;

\begin{gathered} 1\text{ }(2)/(3) \\ 1\text{ - fisrt number} \\ 2-\text{ numerator} \\ 3-\text{ denominator} \end{gathered}

So, to make the conversion, we follow these steps;

a) Multiply the denominator by the first number

In the case of the example shown, that would be (3 * 1) = 3

b) Add the result to the numerator value

That would be (3 + 2 ) = 5

c) Place this over the denominator

That would be 5/3

Using this template, we can easily convert each of the examples

Using the second exercise;

\begin{gathered} 2\text{ }(5)/(8) \\ =\text{ }\frac{(8*2)\text{ + 5}}{8}\text{ = }(16+5)/(8)\text{ = }(21)/(8) \end{gathered}

So, as a general rule, we have it that;

a\text{ }(b)/(c)\text{ = }\frac{(a* c)\text{ + b}}{c}
