Slope m = Y/X

Write equation in linear form

x + 3y = 6 , divide by 3

then

x/3 + y = 2

then

y= -x/3 + 2

So then, slope of this line is m =(-1/3)

Now, slope of perpendicular to this line is

m' = -1/(-1/3)= 3

Now find equation of line with slope m'=3

y = 3x + K

Need to find K, with point (4,5)

K= y - 3x = 5 - 3•4

. = 5 - 12

. = -7

Then answered equation is

y = 3x -7
