Given:

a.) Effie ate 4 peaches.

b.) This represents 50% of the bag of peaches.

To be able to determine the original number of peaches, we will be using the following formula:

\text{ Original Number = }\frac{Number\text{ of peaches ate}}{\frac{Percentage\text{ Equivalent}}{100}}

We get,

\text{ Original Number = }\frac{Number\text{ of peaches ate}}{\frac{Percentage\text{ Equivalent}}{100}}
\text{ = }(4)/((50)/(100))
\text{ = }(4)/(0.5)
\text{ Original Number = 8}

Therefore, the original number of peaches in the bag is 8.
