Hello!

Well, we can find square roots in different cases. Let me give you some examples:

An example of it is when we are working with diagonals.

• Imagine that you have a ,5m ladder,.

,

• You want to ,climb a wall with a height of 4m, and for that you want the ladder to have a slope that allows its tip to be at the top of the wall.

,

• So ,what should be the distance on the floor between the ladder and the wall,?

Let me explain this example to you using square root:

So, we can obtain this distance by using the Pythagorean Theorem, that is:

\begin{gathered} a^2=b^2+c^2 \\ 5^2=4^2+c^2 \\ 25=16+c^2 \\ 25-16=c^2 \\ 9=c^2 \end{gathered}

To obtain this distance 'c', we will have to calculate the square root, look:

\begin{gathered} c^2=9 \\ c=\pm\sqrt[]{9} \\ c^(\prime)=3 \\ c^(\doubleprime)=+3 \end{gathered}

As we don't have a negative distance, the distance c = 3m.

So, it was just an example. We can use square roots in different formulas of math, for example:

• quadratic equation, (to solve functions or draw graphs)

,

• exponentiation ,(to obtain numbers raised to square)

,

• trigonometry ,(Pythagorean Theorem, sine, cosine, tangent)
