Step 1

The oxide: aluminium oxide => Al2O3

The hydroxide: sodium hydroxide => NaOH

---------

Step 2

The reaction between them:

Al2O3 + 2 NaOH => 2 NaAlO + H2O

This is a reaction of neutralization.

In this case, Al2O3 behaves as an acid oxide in presence of a base (NaOH)
