1. Julia purchased souvenirs for ten family members and friends while on vacation. She purchased seashells and bracelets for $29.10. If eachseashell cost $2.45 and each bracelet cost $3.60, how many seashells and how many bracelets did she purchase?

Let us take x as the number of seashells and y as the number of bracelets. As the total amount is, $29.10, we can write,


x(2.45)+y(3.60)=29.10

Also, it is given that the total number is 10. That is, x + y = 10. On solving,
