An above grown swimming pool in the shape of a cylinder has a diameter of 18 feet and a height of 4.5 feet. If the pool is filled with water to 6 inches from the top of the pool, what is the volume to the nearest cubic foot of the water in the pool

Given Data:

The diameter is, d = 18 feet

The height of the cylinder is 4.5feet.

The height of water is, 6inc

The radius of the cylinder can be calculated as,

r=(d)/(2)=(18)/(2)=9

The height of the cylinder is 4.5 ft, but the water is filled 6 inc from the top.

So, we have, 6 inc = 0.5 ft

Therefore the height of the water is,

h = 4.5 ft - 0.5 ft =4 ft.

Now, the water is in cylinderical shape, so the volume can be calculated as,

v=\pi* r^2* h=3.14*9^2*4=1017.36ft^3

Thus the volume is 1017 ft^3.
