we make a relation

14.8g\longrightarrow3(1)/(2)d

now we make a relation between the number of gallons on 1 day

x\longrightarrow1d

where x is the number of gallons on 1 day

Join it

\begin{gathered} 14.8g\longrightarrow3(1)/(2)d \\ \\ x\longrightarrow1d \end{gathered}

and use cross multiplication to solve, multipli the numbers on the diagonal where isnt the missing number. and divide by the number on diagonal of the missing number, to find the Value of the missing number

to simplify the operations we change the mixed number to decimal

3(1)/(2)\longrightarrow3.5

then...

x=(1*14.8)/(3.5)

and do the operations to find the unknow

x=(14.8)/(3.5)=(148)/(35)\approx4.228

the reounded number of gallons for one day are

4.23
