From the problem, we have :

v^{(1)/(2)}+1=0

Subtract 1 to both sides of the equation :

\begin{gathered} v^{(1)/(2)}+1-1=-1 \\ v^{(1)/(2)}=-1 \end{gathered}

Square both sides :

(v^{(1)/(2)})^2=(-1)^2

Note that the imaginary number i = โˆš-1

and i^2 = (โˆš-1)^2 = -1

We can replace the right side of the equation as :

\begin{gathered} (v^{(1)/(2)})^2=(-1)^2 \\ v=i^2 \end{gathered}

The answer is i^2
