SOLUTION

The area of the rectangular floor is obtained by the formula

\text{Area}=\text{Length x width}

From the question we have

\begin{gathered} \text{lenght}=7\text{feet}-3\text{inches } \\ \text{width}=4\text{feet - 2inches } \end{gathered}

Convert the value to the same dimentions in inches

\begin{gathered} 1\text{ foot =12 inces } \\ \text{the } \\ 7\text{ f}eet=12*7=84inches\text{ } \\ \text{The 7 f}eet-3inches=84+3=87inches\text{ } \end{gathered}

Similarly, for the other dimenstion, we have

\begin{gathered} 4\text{feet}=12*4=48\text{inches } \\ \text{Then} \\ 4\text{ fe}et-2inches=48inches+2inches=50inches\text{ } \end{gathered}

The substitute into the formula for area, we have

\text{Area}=50*87=4350inches^2

Hence

The Area of the rectangular floor is 4350in²
