Step 2: Write out the given datas and substituting the values


\begin{gathered} m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1) \\ \text{where y}_2=\text{ 1700metres} \\ y_1=\text{ 1200metres} \\ x_2=\text{ 4hours} \\ x_1=\text{ 0 hour} \\ So\text{ therefore,} \\ m=\text{ }\frac{(1700-1200)\text{metres}}{(4-0)\text{hour}} \\ m=\text{ }\frac{500metres}{4\text{hours}} \\ m=\text{ 125metres/hour} \end{gathered}
