The airplane has a mass of 3200 kg.

A. Momentum:

The momentum of the airplane is given by


p=m\cdot v

Where m is the mass of the plane and v is the velocity of the plane.


p=3200\cdot120=384,000\;

Therefore, the momentum of the plane is 384,000 kg.m/s

B. New Velocity:

There is an Impulse of 44,000 kg*m/s west (opposite to east, so take it negative)


\begin{gathered} v_2=(p_1-p_2)/(m) \\ v_2=(384,000-44,000)/(3200) \\ v_2=106.25\; \end{gathered}

Therefore, the new velocity of the plane is 106.25 m/s
