To rent a certain meeting room, a college charges a reservation fee of $48 and an additional fee of $9.80 per hour. The film club wants to spend at most$136.20 on renting the meeting room. What are the possible amounts of time for which they could rent the meeting room?Use t for the number of hours the meeting room is rented, and solve your inequality for t.

If 1 hour cost $9.80 then t hours cost 9.80t dollars. Adding the reservation fee of $48 the total cost is 48 + 9.80t dollars. The film club wants to spend at most

$136.20, then:

48 + 9.80t ≤ 136.20

9.80t ≤ 136.20 - 48

t ≤ 88.2/9.80

t ≤ 9

They can rent the room for at most 9 hours.
