Please provide an image with your question.

We are asked to decide which of the statements are true based on the following image on the real number line:

Notice that the point ;abeled (a) is to the LEFT of point labeled b. So that means that the value of a is smaller than the value of b

Then, the first statement that reads a < b is TRUE

Notice as well that a is located ONE tick mark to the left of zero. While b is located 3 and 1/2 ticks to the RIGHT of zero. That means that the absolute value (distance from a to zero) of a is smaller than the absolute value (distance from b to zero) of b.

That means that the second statement is FALSE

and also means that the third statement is TRUE because |b| is LARGER than a.

Remember that absolute values give you an idea about how far away from zerro (the otigin of coordinates) the point is.
